"Há de viver sempre o mais forte": a representação da exploração do trabalho em Torto Arado

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of work in the work Torto Arado, by Itamar Vieira Junior, seeking to understand the contributions to the understanding of explorations of work in contemporary times. The methodology used is the legal-literary one, which explores the interdisciplinarity between Law and Literature. The article investigates the relationship between work and slavery, highlighting how the work portrays the persistence of oppressive structures and the lack of workers' rights, reflecting the slavery heritage that still permeates the Brazilian rural context. The author highlights the exploitation of work, the lack of remuneration and labor rights, as well as the resistance of workers. The main results reveal that work is portrayed as a force that molds identities and as a determining factor in the social and economic construction of rural communities. The work invites reflection on the human condition in adverse social contexts, the need for struggles and transformations in order to gain rights and value work. In conclusion, the representation of work in Torto Arado contributes to the understanding of inequalities and exploitation of work in contemporary times, highlighting the persistence of oppressive structures and the importance of collective awareness in the search for social change.
