(Re)reading the history of modern constitutionalism as someone who knows that it's only possible to write a new history of citizenship based on what hasn't been told or has been relegated to the margins of the canonical history, finding in the blank spaces the constitutional narrative that emerges from erased or suppressed factual elements, neglected actors, and landscapes excluded from the map of modern revolutions. This is the proposal of this article, which revisits the history of modern constitutionalism to expand the boundaries of citizenship, rethought and broadened through the experiences of the Haitian Revolution and the new latin american constitutionalism. Our goal is to present a reading that allows itself to be marked by phenomena not considered in the formulation and understanding of constitutionalism and citizenship, grounded in the pillars of the modern nation-state and its philosophical foundations.
