Processo penal no contexto do Brasil (pós) pandêmico: novas perspectivas à duração razoável do processo

Abstract: This article briefly analyzes three new practices related to the Brazilian Criminal Justice System, inserted in the context of COVID-19’ Pandemic period. It also identifies how such practices have contributed to improve the celerity of trials, helping criminal trials modernization, and facilitating the access to the justice system. The article first points out how the new technologies, e.g., e-mails and messages’ app, may help to accelerate court’s communication in criminal investigations and trials. Secondly, the article turns its focus on how the Brazilian Criminal Courts have used videoconference’s technology during trials. The third approach is related to the reform of the Brazilian Criminal Procedure Code, when norms regarding non prosecution agreements are addressed to verify its suitability reach the balance between trails celerity and the respect of defendant’s rights.
