Abstract

The article aims to analyze depth of Itamar Vieira Junior’s writing in the awarded work Torto Arado when dealing topics like the gender, race and class inequality present in quilombola communities of the Chapada Diamatina.Considered in the literary perspective of Magical Realism, the aforementioned book uses the Jarê religion and its peculiarities to, by means of its allegories and the complex living of the main characters, like the whole community of Água Negra, build up a social and depth criticism to the oblivion suffered by rural, poor, quilombola communities, allowing to realize that, on this type of unfavorable social context, the racism and sexism find even more strength to develop and depart women from its human rights. The present work has used the inductive method and the legal and bibliographical research to demonstrate the relevance of the work Torto Arado on the recognition and appreciation of the quilombola people, beyond the necessary awareness about the topic of the triple and intersectional inequality that affects the black poor women of Chapada Diamantina, enabling to understand the need of a real and positive cultural changing towards reaching equality.
